MY CUPPA
A steaming cup of a tea in the early morning really tastes like ambrosia to me. It is like a stimulant that freshens me up the way dews from heaven rejuvenates the grasses and leaves of trees and accentuate their greenery in the morning. While browsing through the morning newspapers I really yearn for a sip of my hot cuppa. I was almost addicted to sweet tea for years during my service career. All the year round, sipping a cup of tea with friends in the Raikia bazaar and with family members at home, was habitual for me. Sahu Tea Stall at the Raikia Bazaar was a rendezvous for my friends where we assembled and gossiped about divergent issues ranging from the local politics to national politics. The hot, sweet and fresh tea made from good quality milk seemed to activate us more then. Now, times have changed with our advancing age.
I have now reconciled to the hot beverage without sugar and without milk on health grounds. We Indians are really idiosyncratic on our choice of food and drink.. So, I can not be an exception.
